Dhanbad Cricket Association was established in the year 1978. with the active initiative taken up by Mr. Arnorld Mathues, Mr. G. Prasad the than Director of Tata Collieries, Sports Officer Sri Robin Mukherjee, Sri G.R. Keshker, Sri A.K. Ghosh (Bachuda) and other cricket lovers of Dhanbad. Mr. G. Prasad and Mr. P.G. Pichamuthu ware the 1st President and Secretary of the Association respectively.
The formation of Dhanbad Cricket Association could have been made possible only with the initiative and co-operation of officials of Tata Collieries. The office of the association was started at Tata Stadium, Digwadih.
In year 2013-2014 DCA has organized a record of 33 number of Board (BCCI) matches. The total number of teams (clubs and school) registered in the year as rose to new high of more than 175.
